Penrite Racing’s David Reynolds has charged through to a solid fourth place in the season’s penultimate race, whilst teammate Anton De Pasquale suffered power steering issues.

Both drivers made a good start to the race and settled into their position by the end of the opening lap – Anton maintaining his starting spot of 5th, while David moved up one place behind him to 6th.

David was one of the first front runners to make a stop at the end of lap 10, with Anton 15 laps later from third.

The race took a twist on lap 32 when the #99 Holden started to suffer a power steering issue.

The team reacted and called Anton in the pits immediately, working hard to get him out in good time and only a couple laps down.

David and Cam Waters pit shortly after, the #9 just squeezing out ahead of the #6.

Anton took his final stop with 33 laps to go and when the final order shook out it was David 5thand Anton 23rd.

With the fastest car on track, David charged through to 4thby the checkered flag.

David Reynolds – Started: 7th, Finished: 4th

“I’m certainly not disappointed with 4thplace. There’s no reason why we can’t crack a podium tomorrow, but I just have to qualify better. You have to qualify well here. Your day is won and lost in qualifying. We qualified seventh and went forward a couple of spots, got lucky when Whincup went spearing off, but it’s about giving qualifying your best shot and start on the front row and have a go for podium.

“It’s such a taxing race too. Every year you come here you don’t comprehend how hard the race is. I’m glad one’s done and there’s only one left tomorrow.”

Anton De Pasquale – Started: 5th, Finished: 23rd

“Today is just really disappointing. We had a good start and were feeling good but when something goes wrong there’s not much you can do. It’s pretty deflating but we just have to sit down, go through our plan for tomorrow and then come back stronger for a good result to the end the year. It’s a whole new day and we’ll give it a crack to get in the shootout again.“
