Penrite Racing has passed the chequered flag for the final time at the Australian Grand Prix, finishing their weekend with David Reynolds 8thand Anton De Pasquale 12th.
13 laps from lights to flag meant there were no pit stops and no strategy.
David started ahead of his teammate in 12th and made another spectacular start to move into 10th before the end of the opening lap.
Anton still struggled off the line, and slot into 16thafter starting two spots higher.
He made it up by the end the next lap though, when Shane Van Gisbergen and Fabian Coulthard went into the side of each other at Turn 11.
The #99 made the most of it, Anton moving up to 12th, and David sliding into 8th.
The Safety Car was called out on lap 3 with big damage to the front of Macauley Jones’ Commodore.
With time-certainly now looming, there were only five laps remaining when the race went green again, for a mad dash to finish.
David and Anton pumped out some quick laps in the final moments but unfortunately weren’t able to get close enough to bridge a gap before crossing the finish line.
DAVID REYNOLDS: Race 6 – 8th
“Today was a short race, a quick 13-lapper which actually got shortened to 11 laps, and less than that were racing laps due to safety cars. I didn’t think I got the best start, I got a lot of wheel spin but I was still made up two spots at the start through car placement. I had a good race, got past Holdsworth and Van Gisbergen, although my car was probably handling better yesterday so it was good to still be able to make some moves.”
ANTON DE PASQUALE: Race 6 – 12th
“Again, I lost a few spots on the start but hustled back and ended up a couple spots ahead of where we started which is what we want. Every race this weekend we have been in a similar spot, but year on year it’s certainly an improvement so overall, I am happy. We learnt a lot this weekend and if we can sort out my starts we’ll be able to move through the pack more.”
